84 Charing Cross Road is a wonderfully enchanting play about the differences and similarities between the Brits and the New Yorkers. It is an engrossing story of how love, respect and friendship develop through written correspondence. The relationship begins soon after the end of World War II and continues into the 1970s. An exchange of correspondence across 3,000 miles creates a friendship that blossoms into deeper affection. The play was made into a movie of the same name starring Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft.
