The Fleur Stevenson Gypsy Jazz Band
Originally classically trained, Fleur Stevenson took to singing jazz around ten years ago. Under the tutelage of award-winning British jazz singer Claire Martin OBE, she developed a superb vocal instrument that is as pin-point pitched as it is heartfelt. She has the sort of phrasing that makes the very best jazz singers great. She will bring with her to our Ashby Venture Theatre a very special trio of acoustic instrumentalists - creating a definite 'Hot Club du Paris’ feel to songs we know and love. Her musicians are: Caley Groves, on acoustic Maccaferri guitar, for many years the rhythm backbone for Remi Harris’ Trio; Jez Cook also on acoustic Maccaferri guitar, part of the Chris Garrick / John Etheridge band and the incredibly popular Ben Holder Band; and the hugely rhythmic bassist - Paul Jefferies (of Gypsy Fire / Ben Holder Quartet / Rob Terry Trio.

Alan Ayckbourn has written an exciting space-themed play which should be a surprising experience for our audiences. The play takes place on a space station set on Callisto, a moon of Jupiter, which, although possessing an incredibly cold atmosphere may well have the chance of supporting life. Although Alan Ayckbourn is well known for his wry look at life through the eyes of couples and their relationships, this production is completely different. Why not come along to see the Venture Theatre’s first step into space, where robots and aliens are not uncommon? Dont be afraid, buy tickets and go where no man has gone before!
At 7:30 pm on Thursday 26th September to Saturday 28th September, and on Wednesday 2nd until Saturday 5th October 2019
